As an avid fan of the survival horror genre, I am extremely anxious for the release of Silent Hill: Downpour. With Silent Hill: Homecoming being such an enjoyable title, I expect greatness from this upcoming title. Downpour will be the eighth instalment in the Silent Hill Series.
Gameplay
With mind-bending puzzles reappearing in Downpour, avid Silent Hill fans will not be disappointed. The player may only carry one weapon at a time and these weapons have the potential to break. With weapons being limited, the option to fight or flee is left in the hands of the player. Downpour will include side quests which will alter depending on the player’s choices. Buildings featured in past instalments such as a hospital and school will not be included in Downpour. A prominent role within the game will be the element of water with torrential rain being featured.
Plot
The protagonist will be Murphy Pendleton, a prisoner who is stranded in the town of Silent Hill. The prison vehicle used to transport him detoured off road and was involved in an accident, leaving him stranded. The events within Downpour will take place in the south east region of Silent Hill, which has never been explored in past instalments of the successful series. The plot surrounding Downpour will be unrelated to previous instalments. With a thought-provoking storyline, fans of the Silent Hill series will be ecstatic at the prospect of Downpour.
Summary
With little information being released regarding Downpour, it leaves the consumer eager to learn more. With water being a primary element of Downpour, it’s evident that the environment and its sounds will play an important role in creating an atmosphere within the game.
